2. Some iPhone models will display a settings notification after repair advising you that the screen has been replaced, this is normal and nothing to worry about. If you select “Genuine Apple Refurbished” from the drop down menu the notification will not appear as the parts are ordered directly from Apple and undergo system configuration to sync the new part with the phone.
Which iPhone Screen Option Should You Choose?
We offer three quality tiers for iPhone screen replacements so you can pick the one that best matches your budget and expectations.
Premium LCD – This is our most affordable option and uses high-quality LCD panels with a bright backlight. Colours and sharpness are very good, and it’s an excellent choice for iPhone models that originally came with LCD screens (such as iPhone 11 and older). However, on any iPhone that was designed for OLED (iPhone X, XS, 11 Pro, and all iPhone 12–16 series), fitting an LCD screen instead of OLED can lead to noticeably faster battery drain (often 20–30% worse), slightly reduced colour depth (blacks look grey instead of true black), a marginally thicker/heavier feel, and occasional loss of perfect True Tone or auto-brightness accuracy.
Soft OLED – These are premium aftermarket OLED panels that perform almost identically to Apple’s original screens in everyday use. You get deep true blacks, vibrant colours, high contrast, HDR support, and (on Pro models) full 120 Hz ProMotion refresh rate. Touch response, brightness, and viewing angles are excellent, and importantly there is no battery life penalty compared to the original screen. True Tone and auto-brightness work perfectly. This is the option most customers choose for iPhone 12 and newer because it restores the phone to how it felt when it was new, at a fraction of Apple’s price.
Genuine Refurbished Apple Screens – These are 100% original Apple OLED displays removed from genuine devices and fully refurbished to like-new condition in controlled factory conditions. They are the exact same part your phone left the factory with, so colour accuracy, brightness, True Tone, HDR, ProMotion, Dolby Vision – every single feature – works perfectly with zero compromises. Battery life, touch sensitivity, and display calibration are identical to a brand new phone. This is the closest you can get to an official Apple repair without paying Apple’s premium prices.
In short:
• If budget is the priority and your phone originally had an LCD → Premium LCD is fine.
• If you have an iPhone 12, 13, 14, 15 or 16 and want the display and battery life to feel exactly like new → go for Soft OLED or Genuine Refurbished Apple.
• If you want the absolute best and most authentic experience possible → Genuine Refurbished Apple is the gold standard.
